Islington/ Highbury Coach House

HEAT have gained planning consent from the London Borough of Islington for a sensitive conversion of a 1970’s house on the site of a former coach house in Highbury. The proposals included a fully glazed frameless side extension by glass specialists Cantifix and a loft conversion to form a large new room. This project was interesting in that the original design had architectural integrity that we did not want to compromise and the site was very confined so the extension had to be carefully planned to work with the garden.

Camden/ Hampstead Coach House

HEAT have obtained planning consent from the London Borough of Camden for the conversion of a former coach house in Frognal, Hampstead. This was a straightforward side extension to match the original Victorian building and a roof conversion involving new dormer windows and a window cleverly inserted into the hipped gable.

Developer/Westminster/ Westbourne Grove New Build

HEAT have gained planning consent to rebuild a former design studio in fashionable Westbourne Grove. The front facade respects the stucco fronted villas in the surrounding streets, whilst the clever curved roof is designed to fit within rights-of-light constraints on this dense urban site whilst accommodating a new upper storey.

A double-height glass window divides the front window, allowing the front door to float in space and behind it a circulation space brings light deep into the plan.

Having secured consent for the rebuilding and the change of use, we subsequently negotiated planning consent for the excavation of a basement in this sensitive conservation area.
